Hi I have bluechart preinstalled on my Garmin Colorado 400c but I am unable to see them in Basecamp when it is connected to the Mac, which makes it very hard to plan trips using the charts. Is it likely that this will be available in the future?

I suspect you'll have fallen foul of the latest BaseCamp "feature":
Removed ability to display marine maps in deference to the release of HomePort.
Since HomePort appears to be chargeable software, I guess this is understandable.
Does this mean I will replace Basecamp with Homeport? I don't mind paying for the software as longs as I only need to use one programme for all my GPS 'stuff'. I don't want to run one programme for land based and another for water based! Does anyone know when Homeport for Mac will be released.

Yes, HomePort will replace BaseCamp for marine users. You should be able to manage your land and water-based "stuff" :) in HomePort fine. It is complete and awaiting release...so soon-ish.
