Bug in BaseCamp 3.2.1 - Via Point Limits when converting a Track

There seems to be a bug in BaseCamp where it ignores the preferences setting to limit the number of Via Points when converting a Track into a Route.

I have mine set to 50, I believe that's the default, but that setting is completely ignored when converting an existing Track into a Route. The resulting Route will have as many Via Points as the original Track has track points.
  • I have noticed the same issue. I dont know if this is related but Basecamp has trouble transferring my routes to my Colorado GPS, they are all truncated. Is this a Basecamp issue or a Colorado issue?
  • Thanks for the heads up. This problem has been fixed and will be in the next maintenance release. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    You have/had two issues.

    • As azdrmn pointed out, BC was ignoring the Via Point preferences for track to route conversion.
    • Your Colorado can only handle <250 via points in a route. Once it hit's 249 the route is truncated from there to the end point.

    Cheers,
  • Thanks azdrmn,

DRTBYK, thanks, so if I limit the number of via points to 250 or less they will transfer ok, once the fix has been installed?

It's been some time since I had my Colorado but yes, I believe they will. Just keep total point count below 250. That's a lot of via points for a route. I don't remember if the Colorado "announces" via points in a route. If it does, you will want to keep the via points to a minimum so as not to have to many announcements.

    Cheers,
