I've just created a route in base camp and am then trying to view the corresponding elevation profile. I select the information screen and then click on "view elevation profile" but nothing happens changing the route to a track results in the same behaviour. I can view elevation profiles of rides that I have completed in the past. Am I making a mistake when planning a route and not finishing it correctly, distance and time estimations are shown at the bottom line in BaseCamp? Furthermore, how is vertical ascent calculated when using the Edge 800? I ask because looking at the data captured in the Dragon Ride I completed I climbed about 1400 metres but according to the organisers there was about 1700 metres of climbing on the route?
I had the problem a few version back and I think it was missing data from the map. Try an elevation profile on a segment of the route. I think it was intersection of trails and roads that caused the problem for me so try a section without an intersection.
Which map are you using? That should work if you are using a Topo map or a very new City Navigator map, but most City Navigator maps don't have elevation, so routes and drawn tracks will not have elevation.
