3.2.1 track drawing too thin!

Great update, but is there a way to change the way tracks are drawn back to what ist was?
It's too thin and tracks cannot be distinguished from other lines in a map. It's almost useless! :(
The screenshot shows the difference: left 3.2.1, right the version before.
  • x2. Thanks; I forgot to mention this one.

PS: Under Get Info with the Track selected, you can change its color and work around the problem.

    No change necessary.

Quite a few of the beta-user's asked for narrower Track / Route line width's. We got them and I think they are just the right size.:D

Track's show "highlighted" very well and do not interfere with other data on the map - at low zoom level's or at high zoom levels.

I have to agree with FHOEWING. The app is completely useless to me now. I had to go out this weekend without current maps because I couldn't print anything worthwhile and didn't have time to troubleshoot this bug.

With the topo map of my area and the size of the area I'm looking at, streams, roads and contours all look like tracks. Changing the color of the tracks is NOT a workaround. This changes the color of the tracks on the gps as well. What looks good in Basecamp can be impossible to read in bright sunlight when uploaded to the gps.

So far the only workaround was to find an old copy of 3.1.4 and turn off updates. Without the ability to adjust the size of the lines, this update should have never left beta. None of the new features are worth upgrading for if I can't see the tracks!

For those that need a working version of BaseCamp, search Google for "BaseCampforMac_314.dmg". Trash the broken version before installing.

Make it an option!? + a bug

I disagree, DRTBYK. Your example map is almost empty. Any track thickness and colour would stand out. Please consider high-detailed topo maps or city maps. Even selected it's hard to see the tracks and to get a good overview!
Could you please make it an option?

While I was looking for a better example screenhot I noticed a bug, that might partly be the cause for my dissapointment: it seems that for selected tracks only some colours are rendered thicker (good) while most are thin (bad).
All the colours "dark blue" etc are thin, while "blue" etc are thicker.

Agreed, they're just right for my usage. User selectable line weight would be best for all, but I'm happy with the new look.

I'm just one of the "users" here so I only get one vote. ;)

As for the "bug" you describe, I think you'll find if you zoom in on the highlighted Track that the dark colors are "outlined" with light Gray, making them appear very narrow to the point of not looking highlighted when in fact they are. I didn't like that either but. . . as I said, I only get one vote too.

Looks to me like this is a remnant from the very w-i-d-e Tracks of previous versions. The dart colors were so big visually on the map that the Dev Team used the light-Gary outline to make them a little less overwhelming.

Oh, and I agree with KILLTIMER, user selectable line width would be optimal.

I believe that selecting tracks will make them print that way, as well, which should help their visibility.

Slightly thinner as in previous versions is OK. But now they are to thin. How can that be changed now?
  • Since is obviously a "can't please all the people all the time" issue, we are planning on letting user's pick their desired width in the next version of BaseCamp. Until then, there is no way to adjust the width.

You folks are great! Thanks for the interaction. As an old developer, I know it takes time and can be frustrating at times. As a customer, it's nice to know you want our feedback in order to reach more customers with BaseCamp.
