Fixed issue where disconnecting a device while it was being read could cause a crash.
Fixed rare issue where clicking on the 3-D map with the routing tool could cause a crash.
Fixed issue where importing GPX file with thousands of identically named waypoints could cause a crash.
Change to handle out of memory condition better.
  • Some drawing glitches I hadn't noticed in the beta releases:

In 3-D view, the line corresponding to the selected route is "dotted" - I can't describe it better, other than it's visually not a solid line, as if there is "static" in the drawing. The line looks correct in 2-D, just not on 3-D.

Similarly, when waking from sleep/switching monitors (I am using BaseCamp on a laptop that gets attached to an external monitor pretty frequently), the map image and the overlay data (highway numbers, names, routing lines) gets offset. Quitting and restarting BaseCamp seems to resolve the issue. (I am using Garmin's TOPO 24K maps.)
  • Changes made from version 3.1.4 to 3.2.1:
-Track lines are now so thin program is unusable.

They're perfect for me, but I do support the idea of user selectable line weight. :)
  • Hello,

BC now wants to read map data from my unit (Montana 600).
I didn't notice it in previous releases (and with Oregon 550t).
Is there a way to avoid it?
The task is long and tedious and the map is already installed in BC.
If I want to quit BC - and I select to cancel the operation in the dialog box presented by the application - nothing happens and I have to abruptly disconnect the unit if I want to be able to close BC.
    Where am I wrong?
    Thanx for hints.

    Track thickness:
I like thinner track lines, however I do support the idea of user selectable line weight.

    Andrew
  • Just let BC index the GPS's maps one time and the next time you plug in it will be instant. BC is not really transferring the maps to your mac even if they were not already stored.

    My observation:

    • Track line thickness should be user selectable.

    • When the user sets Track color to one of the "dark" colors (Black - Dark Gary), BC sets the outer pixels of the line width to light-gray when it's selected (highlighted). This makes the line look very thin. This is not necessary and BC should use that pixel width in the user-selected line-color.

I notice when I select a track, Total Ascent and Total Descent are in miles even though I have the Preferences set for "Feet". Agree with others, the Track plotting line is way too thin.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's correct in the track dialog, but incorrect on the status bar at the bottom of the app.

    Unable to download

I have tried twice to download the 3.2.1 version of Base Camp from the link you provide. I get the dmg file on my Mac, but when I click on the dmg file, I get a message "file not recognized."

I am running 0S10.7 Lion on my Mac. The old version of Base Camp opens fine. Not sure why this is not opening.
