Basecamp not showing overlays?

(Disclaimer: I have a new GPSMap 62s, and I know nothing about how to use it and the Garmin documentation is...sparse.)

I have the basemap that came with the device showing up in Base Camp. I also have a 3rd party topo map loaded into Base Camp and my device. Under the maps menu I can choose one or the other, but not both. So, I can either see a topo with no other information (no roads, etc) or the loaded basemap. Is there a way to show both these in Base Camp? They both display on my actual unit.

My experience is that none of the Garmin, NG or any general purpose Topo map's are going to have much in the way of legal Mountain Bike trails. You may be better served checking out some of the Mountain Bike specific web sites that collect Trail data (Tracks) for your area and use them as your map.

You can certainly go the way of TopoFusion but I don't know why you would want to spend the time to learn and make your own maps when in reality you just want the trails on your GPS. Tracks will do this for you just fine and there are very few "legal" Mountain Bike trials that someone hasn't already recorded tracks on I expect.

    Cheers,

Another question, and again, sorry if this is obvious....I have loaded multiple maps on my Garmin, but there seems to be only three "slots" available (under Maps>map info). Can I only load in 2 maps at a time? How do I get more than three? I have tons of use on my device....
  • It depends on your GPS model and extra memory, You might want to call garmin support, check out Garmin Installing and Updating Maps or visit a gps forum like GPS Forum Review as this is the BaseCamp forum.

Thanks, PSEBOLT. I will look over there.
