Automobile routing in 3.2.0.9 still broken (but differently).

Alas...

I updated to 3.2.0.9 from 3.2.0.7 and tried recalculating a number of automobile routes that were pretty funny in 3.2.0.7 (routes that were considerably longer and on smaller roads than they ought to be).

Anyways, I tried 3 routes, 2 of approximately 200 miles and 1 that's about 10 miles but along a small dirt road. The underlying maps are the Topo 24K West DVD (CA, NV, OR, WA).

The dirt road route is better than before, with a few weirdnesses.

The automobile routes, which are roughly 200 miles each, became direct routes; there's not even a pretense of a road. They also take 0 minutes, by the way.

So I'm sorry to say that the routing algorithm is definitely not up to previous standards. :(

I'm also using TOPO 24K West. I have had only some minor Auto Routing anomalies using the Auto Routing in the Automotive Profile (see photo <auto-routing_test_long_hwy_v3209.jpg> below)

    Automotive Profile:
    Auto Routing
    Calculation Mode: Shortest Distance
    Road Preference: Highway

But, in Auto Routing calculation mode, BC is still creating a route that looks like a Direct Route except there are only a start and end point for a 284mi. route (see photo <auto-routing_test_long_nonautorouting.jpg> below).

    Automotive Profile:
    Auto Routing
    Calculation Mode: Shortest Distance
    Road Preference: Highway

    Cheers,

DRTBYK: Can you post those images as attachments?

Those image links come up as broken for me. It may be that you uploaded them to your sharing service as private links and they will only load for someone logged into your account.
  • The final fix for routing was made today; unfortunately not early enough for this beta. Sorry for the inconvenience.
