Feature Request: Add Course Points

I would like to add course points in Basecamp, currently it's only possible in Trainingscenter. My usecase is always an export from Basecamp as GPX, than convert with TCX Converter as course, than import the course in TC and than add course points to the course, then transfer to my Edge 800.

Of course BC has to support export of course files too.

Training Center should be able to import GPX files exported from BaseCamp; wouldn't that do what you want more simply?

Not really. When i import a GPX in TC it treats it as activity. Then i have to search the activity, then new course from history, then delete the activity...

It is unlikely that this feature will make it into BaseCamp. However, it seems that if Training Center would import GPX files as courses, it would make the process much less tedious.

Why can't you add your course points in BC and then Export as a TCX file (beta will export as TCXv2)? Import the TCX file intoTC - the course does show as an Activity but I just drag/drop into History. Think we need to get the TC Dev Team to work this one.

I even use BC to "smooth" tracks (course) using Topo map data. Works well.

Why? It would be the right place. For managing many of tracks and courses TC is the wrong place.

However, it seems that if Training Center would import GPX files as courses, it would make the process much less tedious.

It turns out this can be done without a code change now that we have support for an I/O plugin as described here. Maybe someone would like to take a crack at creating a GPX to Course plugin based on the current GPX to Activity plugin.

azdrmn,

BaseCamp beta already has the GPX to TCX2 plugin. This plugin maps GPX Tracks to TCX2 Activities (currently). Can you tell us what the use-case is/was for why folks would want Tracks to Activities?

Since there is no Plugin folder in the ~\Library\Application Support\Garmin directory I will assume the current "plugin's" have been compiled. It would seem a rather simple effort to change the current Plugin so that it translated GPX Tracks to TCX Courses instead of Activities(?).

Can you provide us with the above mentioned BaseCamp Plugin files?
