Deleting waypoints from GPS device

I use a 60CSx for geocaching and have uploaded 50-100 waypoints for an area I'm visiting, some get used, some don't. Once back home I want to delete all the waypoints from that geographical area but leave all others untouched.

I don't think I can do that on the 60CSx itself (the interface certainly doesn't encourage it, one point/3 clicks at a time!) so was hoping to be able to achieve it through Basecamp.

If I select "My Garmin devices/60CSx", I can select the batch of waypoints but can't delete them.
If I select "My Collection" I can select the waypoints and delete them, but they remain on the GPS device.

How can I delete them from the device?

Thanks

You could change the icon for the unwanted waypoints and then delete all points with that icon in one fell scoop, right on the GPS.

Using Mapsource, you can delete there the waypoints you don't need and save a file with the waypoints you want. Now delete the gpx file off your GPS (I would back it up on your computer, just in case), then send the waypoint file from Mapsource to the GPS. I believe Basecamp might work the same for you, but I have not tried it in that function.

On a older device like the GPSMap 60, you are unable to delete waypoints from the device directly. One way to do what you are trying to do is connect your device and run BaseCamp. Receive all the waypoints into BaseCamp, using Receive from Device. Now disconnect your GPS, navigate to the menu that allows you to delete all your waypoints. In BaseCamp delete the points you want to removed from the Recently Received folder, connect the GPS and transfer the remaining points back to your GPS.

This process is much easier in user data sync models like the Oregon x50s and Dakotas where you can delete data directly from the device.

Didn't work for me. I used a modified version of SARLABS procedure.
I typed out a detailed explanation of what I did but the forum kicked me out and deleted what I'd typed. I haven't got the time or patience to re-type it now but if anyone is interested let me know and I'll be happy to type it out again.
