Help plotting UK end to end route

Hi

Just got a Garmin Edge 800 for a charity ride I am undertaking in May - from Land's End to John O'Groats.
I would like some advice in terms of the best way to plan my route on Garmin BaseCamp that I can then upload to my Garmin. I would like to use postcodes and have the ability to modify any route BaseCamp may provide me with. I hope to plan my 13 days, each as a separate route
Any help much apreciated.

  • Creating the route should be easy. There a several different ways to create a route, I will describe my preferred method. Create a new list and work from the list. Create as many waypoints as will be needed to define the route. Most route requires only two waypoints but your loop will require more. Select the waypoints (Command click to cherry pick) in the order you want the route created. Right click the selection and select Create Route from from Waypoint(s). If you want to tweak the route, just get your black arrow from the tool bar and drag the route.
  • Be sure to download the 3.2.0.7 beta, because the release version (3.1.4) doesn't read data from the Edge 800.
  • Hi

I can't seem to get the 'create route from waypoints' when I right-click, is there another way of doing this?

    Many thanks
  • There is other ways but I think you will prefer the right click method. Using the selection tool (black arrow), select 2 or more waypoints from the left panel. Hold down the command key and click in the order you want your route created. With the selection tool over one of the selected waypoints, right click or control left click and a popup contextual menu will allow you to select create route from waypoints.
