Another poster in this forum has said that it is now possible to view maps purchased on microSD cards in BaseCamp. Does that mean that the GPS unit must always be connected to the Mac or PC to view them in BaseCamp or can the maps be copied from the card to the Mac/PC for off-line viewing?
As far as I know, you cannot copy the maps from the microSD card to a computer to view the maps in BaseCamp. You can only view the maps while the GPS unit is plugged into the computer.

I think if you get a microSD card reader for your mac, the cost almost nothing, and copy the maps to the another microSD Card, your mac will read and mount the card in BaseCamp. I think the maps will be available but have not tested so I could be wrong. Even if it works, my preferred method is an installed map on the mac. Your options for getting it installed varies with with different maps, if we are talking about City navigator bought on the nuvi, you should have a free update for download with and option in advanced to install the maps on the mac.
