How to get a track from Basecamp to Edge 800?

I created a track with BC, but now I want to get it to my Edge 800, but BC always crashes when I do the transfer. I tried to use the option: send selected tracks to Garmin Connect but nothing happens there. Exporting only shows the map where my track is in and even when I perform the export, the resulting file doesn't seem usable.
Is there a workaround?

Does your Edge mount in the upper left corner of the BaseCamp window when you plug it in your USB port? Have you tried just dragging the track to the edge?

I have read this thread. I just installed BC last week, so I have no previous versions. What happens if I install an earlier version? Do I loose all my data (routes,...)?
My Edge appears in the left corner. Haven't tried dragging.

You should not lose your data if you go back a version. Try dragging a track to your Forerunner, the worse think that can happen is you get the same results as sending data.

BaseCamp 3.1.4 that was just posted to the App Store should fix your problem. A web version will also be posted for Leopard users soon.
