Nuvi200W / BaseCamp

OK, VERY basic questions. And for this I apologize. And thank in advance... :p

So with BaseCamp, I can map routes, and transfer the to my Nuvi200W. Cool. I get that. Fun!

I also see that BaseCamp grabbed my saved locations from the Nuvi200W. Again...COOL!

But what else...?

Can I track routes I've driven / walked with my Nuvi 200 in BaseCamp? What about GeoCaches that I've found with my Rhinos? Routes that I've run with my Forerunner405? YIKES...as I type this, I realize I'm pretty Garmin-heavy!

Again...I know these questions are basic... Not entirely sure I "get" BaseCamp.

You cannot send routes to your Nuvi because your model does not support that function (custom routes). Some of the Nuvi's have this capability, but not yours.

You can send waypoints (aka Favorites) in both directions. You can send your track from the Nuvi to your computer, but not the other way around. If you try to send a track to the Nuvi, it will report that it was sent, but it won't work.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think the 200 series even records your track. IIRC, the 205 series added that function but it was not available on the 200 series.

Basecamp can display the map from your Nuvi on your computer while it's connected. However, since your model has a very slow USB 1.0 interface, it may not work very well. If you copy the contents of your Garmin folder from the Nuvi to a USB flash disk and put it into a USB 2.0 port on your computer, you might be able to use the map in Basecamp.

But really, with your model Nuvi, the main thing that you can do in Basecamp is just sending favorites to/from your computer.
