Uploading a route to Nuvi

My Nuvi 750 allows me to create a route in Basecamp and upload up to 10 routes the the nuvi. I upgraded my nuvi 250 to the 750 to get this feature but found I never really used the feature because it is easier to drag the waypoints into the nuvi favorites.

I was looking at the new Garmins from the comparison page. Can someone tell me how to determine if the new Garmins will allow BaseCamp to upload routes.
  • If I compare different models I find a comparison for Routes: followed by a number like 0, 10, 100. I am confused because I would assume 100 should mean I can upload 100 routes and I find 100 routes for the nuvi 3670T but this forum states you can't upload routes to the 3670T.

    Thanks

The Nuvi 1695, 2200, 2300, 2400 and 3700 series use something completely new called the "trip planner". While it allows you to create and save up to 100 of these "trips" on the device itself, it's completely incompatible with any form of computer route data exchange. Trips are not routes.

You you search the FAQ's at Garmin support, you will see that they've acknowledged this problem and promised a firmware update during Q1 2011 to make it possible to exchange routes with your computer.

If route planning on the computer is important for you, then you might wait until the fix is available to see if it will meet your needs. Some people (especially Popej :) ) are skeptical that the update will address all the issues.
  • Thanks for the good info. It's not very important to me because I have the feature and never use it but I want to understand the features I am buying.

I have Life Time Maps with my Nuvi 750 and it a great unit. The suggestion to wait is great news in that I don't need another GPS at this point in time.

Thanks, I should have checked the FAQ.
