Can anyone upload Tracks form the new Edge 800 into Basecamp 3.1.1 for Mac???? I have taken 3 rides with my new Edge 800 and have not been able to upload any tracks into Basecamp. After a ride, I press stop and then hold down the Lap/Reset key to save the track. I then attach my Edge to my Mac, open Basecamp, press the "Receive" button in Basecamp, but "Routes, Tracks and Waypoints and Geotagged Photos" are grayed out so you cannot select them. The only thing not grayed out is "Garmin Custom Maps and Imagery". I emailed Garmin support and the only thing they said was, "Your device is supported in Mac Basecamp, make sure you save your ride to your device". I did that, but I can not upload to Basecamp! Anyone else have this experience? Anyone able to upload Tracks to Basecamp from the Edge 800???
I don't have an edge so I am guessing but does your GPS mount under my devices in BaseCamp. If so you should be able to just drag the tracks down into a BaseCamp List. I mostly use my Forerunner with Training Center.

The Edge 800 is listed under my devices in Basecamp. I did contact customer support and they say the 800 uses a new file type that isn't compatible with Basecamp. I have been loading the tracks into Training Center and then I export a GPX file and then load that into Basecamp. That works fine except it takes an extra step.
The Edge 500 and Edge 800 store their files in a format that only fitness applications like Training Center and Garmin Connect can read currently. For now the two step method is your only solution. Sorry for the convenience.

Not instead! We want to use both applications. TC is good for fitness applications, but only for that. Basecamp is very handy to view all activities in a region. For example when did I a ride to mountain x or y? Or how often did I a ride to mountain x in 2010. Or to plan a tour based on older tours I have all-ready done (e.g plan a new transalp).
I don't understand why Basecamp does not support the new Edge 800? Garmin promotes the device as a mix of an Edge 500 and a Oregon/ Dakota. The 705 was closer to the Oregon because it was supported.
Please add support for the 800!
and i have no idea how to upload saved Waypoints from my Edge 800 to my mac. With my 705 i did it with basecamp... @azdrmn :What application do you recommend for that if basecamp is not supported?

if I use TC to export the track from my Edge 800 as a GPX file will I be able to give that file to another rider in my club and them be able to create a route from that GPX on their Edge 800? The reason I ask is that there are several points on the ride where we will sprint to the regroup point and the sprint can include several turns. If a rider is new and isn't able to keep up with the pack on the sprint they might get lost and not make the regroup point. If they had a route and their Edge 800 told them where to turn then I'd feel a whole lot better about them.

If you are using Training Center, I would suggest creating a course instead and sending that to the other riders by exporting it as a TCX file. You can create course points before you export it to give the other riders cues about upcoming turns, etc. I will admit to having never used that feature on an 800 though, so I welcome input from other users.

RoadTrip does not work reliable under MacOS 10.6 SnowLeopard.
I'm very surprised that you still promote that outdated piece of software, which hasn't been updated for years!

AZDRMN, just FYI this weekend I created a route with RoadTrip and transferred it to my Edge 800. It worked fine (once I took the spaces out of my route name - for some reason when I created two routes named "Home To A" and "A To Home" only the "Home To A" route showed up on the Edge 800 even though I transferred to GPS several times but once I renamed both routes to "HomeToA" and "AToHome" they both showed up under Courses just fine). I rode the courses and got the appropriate guidance.
