Lost Huge Route! Help Please.

Hello,

Searched the forum and couldn't find info for my problem.

First, I'm a mac user with the newest versions of the os. I created a 6129 mile route in Basecamp for a motorcycle trip around the US that I'm starting on the 26th of this month. Took around three hours and looked great. I exported it to my nuvi 500, which is updated with the most recent software, and it disappeared from Basecamp (newest version). I went to look at it on the GPS and when I select it in "my data" to import on the gps, the gps just shuts off. Any ideas?

I did look at the route in google earth, which is now the only copy I have. I've got in in kmz and kml format, but have been unable to convert to a straight gpx format.

I don't think I've ever been so aggravated.

Thanks for any help,

Mike

Was able to find my route; Still wont load!

Now, I just can't import it into the Nuvi 500 without the Nuvi crashing. Got a reply from Garmin stating to use the 2D map to render the route, but the Nuvi still crashes. Garmin also said it is most likely a problem with Snowleopard 10.6 and that they are working on a fix. My trip is in 12 days. It's the only reason I bought the Nuvi. Sucks!

    Any other ideas?
  • I don't believe the problem is because of Snow Leopard. I suspect that the route may be too long for the Nuvi. Can you export the route as a GPX file and send it to [email protected] so we can take a look at it? In the meantime, you may want to try breaking the route into segments and then sending them to the Nuvi.
