I have my map City Navigator on a SD card. When I have the device connected it doesn't show this map only INT Standard autoroute bmap. I was lead to believe that Basecamp can now read maps that are on sd cards when connected, is this the case?
Do you see as your SD card as a separate device in BaseCamp? If so, could you verify if there any other items under your device? There should be an entry for your map product with the name "Failed" if there were any issues reading the map.
Could you also give us more details about your map including the version and the name of the map file as it is stored in your card?
I have the opposite problem I have unlocked maps (European Nuvi N America selected load) in basecamp, but when I install a selection from map install from my mac to my Nuvi 3790T the device states that it "cannot unlock the maps"
When I disconnect the USB and start the gps I get a map loading ident, the login page, then an error that the maps cannot be unlocked.
In tools/system/maps the N American maps are not shown, despite being present in the maps folder on the NUVI
If I go to mygarmin, mymaps for this nuvi device I get:
City Navigator North America NT 2011 - All Regions, Apr 10
Code: UHK?????
Unlock Code: ECW????????
Date Unlocked: September 9, 2010

This is on the NUVI itself which after downloading the 300Mb or so of selected US maps has 1.something GB free.
Did you rename the file after uploading the maps using MapInstall? Could you verify the name of your img file on the unit for City Navigator North America NT 2011.
I fixed the problem myself after a week with daily emails from garmin support.
There was a bogus "european" selection in the N American NT selections I was trying to upload which caused the problem.
I'm not sure why a non n american selection could be included but it was, this caused the unlock problem.
There is also a problem I believe with the 3790T when uploading it "ignores" the last few bytes which can cause problems. There is a workaround in the other thread from developer.
PS the N american map update for the compatible 3790T does NOT include 3D mapping nor junction view which comes built in with the device.
