Sync without duplication?

Hello,

I'm new to GPS stuff. I just bought a Garmin 62s and have been using BaseCamp to download my tracks and waypoints, then create routes and send them back to the GPS. I'm having two problems:

I typically use the default name for a waypoint (e.g. "60"), then rename that waypoint in Basecamp. It seems, though, that I end up with duplication, both of waypoints and routes. Is there a way to keep them in sync, without duplication?
I also am getting duplication of my routes. Canyon Trail. Canyon Trail 1. Canyon Trail 2. Same question--any idea why they're duplicating?
In my attempt to delete duplicates, I tried clearing the GPS and then sending all my routes and waypoints back from Basecamp. Now, on the GPS, my waypoints are displaying, but my routes--even though they're listed--are not showing on the map. Any ideas how to get them to display again?

Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions.

I too would love to hear how others handle this. I am used to my upload to the GPS wiping out the contents and replacing it with my upload completely.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have never had a problem but I did not think basecamp was syncing. I thought BaseCamp was mounting a volume I could copy waypoints, tracks, or routes to and from. I use POI for most of what I want to add and keep my favorites pretty clean. I usually set put the nuvi for the next trip or the Dakota for the next geocache outing. I keep previous stuff in BaseCamp
