Just got the birdseye and get an Invalid Birdseye File upon startup on the Oregon 550T. Also in Basecamp should you be able to view the aerial images or just on the GPS? All I get is a blue box of the downloaded area and if its a 10mb image downloaded when selecting the birdseye image its only 15kb. Any info on a fix would be great.
Yes, you should be able to see the imagery in BaseCamp and GPS. If you downloaded the imagery this weekend, there was an issue with Digital Globe's servers that prevented images from being downloaded. You should not have been able to download the image to your device though. You can use BaseCamp to delete the BirdsEye image off your 550. You can redownload the images by right-clicking (or cmd-clicking) on the empty image and choosing Download BirdsEye Image.
The Mac Basecamp didn't throw errors like the windows version. Just delete the Birdseye section and re-download. Unless it's broken again, that will repair it. Also - make sure you delete any of the 16k Birdseye files from your unit memory (in /Garmin/Birdseye).
It's been working since late Monday. Haven't checked today mind you...
Last night I deleted all the birdseye images and tried again and still the same problem. I then unistalled basecamp and reinstalled and still have the same problem. I will try again this evening and see if it will work.
I have the same error but, i can't know witch jnx file is invalide.
How i can search for the faulty jnx file ?
I have 113 jnx file, redownload 2 times, erase from my gpsmap 62s and redownload.
I always have this error.
Is i have to erase all the jnx in my BaseCamp and redounload all from internet, or it have an easy solution.
The easiest way to spot corrupt JNX files on your device would be what GSCRATCH already suggested: to navigate to your device's BirdsEye folder and delete them.
Double clicking on your Garmin once it mounts and navigate to "Garmin/BirdsEye".
Sort all of the files in there by size by clicking on the relevant table column.
Delete all of the 16K or smaller files.
In BaseCamp, delete any "empty" or otherwise broken JNX files on your computer.
This should be something that was only doable in older versions of BaseCamp. If, after removing these invalid files, you still get this behavior with fresh downloads, please tell us.
I had trying all your steps and the invalid JNX is always in the list. I will delete the JNX files 10 at a times and look if i can find the invalid file.
It was a good thing if you can integrate a JNX file valider in BaseCamp. Because it is very long and very difficult to find invalid.
You know it is very long to download the birdseye from the server, it take many hour to download and i have to restart the process. It is to long and the downloading files stop often, i can't stay the computer download somes BirdsEye files, i have to stop and restart the download often to have only one file at a time because the downloading stop often.
I am not very satisfy with this service, maybe you have to think for a better way to download JNX files. We pay for a service and it look you want to limit our downloads. We don't always have many hours in front of the computer only to do the downloading of somes Birdseye.
Ok i had delete 10 JNX at a time and after just delete one by one thoses 10 jnx and i had locate the invalid one.
It is a hard job but this is the only method to locate faulty BirdsEye.
