Help,

I am using Basecamp 3.01.0 and Road Trip 2.0.2 on a powerbook pro runniing OSX 10.6.3 and I can not get either to show a route on roads. Both have the preference set to auto routing, fastest, highway and car/ motorcycle. Using the US base map V2

I can not get any route no matter how I set it up to show on roads it only shows a direct line between the 2.

What am I doing wrong.

  • The basemap that comes with BaseCamp does not have routing information and will only give direct routes. BaseCamp 3.0 added a prompt when you try to route on a basemap to tell them to expect a direct route and give options to rectify that.

One other possibility in the BaseCamp routing preferences there is a choice for direct or auto routing. You want to select Auto.

Other than that and the base map thing, sounds like you have a Gremlin living in your Camp.... ;^)

BaseCamp / RoadTrip will NOT route on Roads

Hi Im also having this problem. Using a new pre-loaded USTOPO 100k map set, which is selected and viewable in BaseCamp. The AutoRoute is selected. Have tried every option with respect to preferences (scenic/highway/car/bike etc.). The Route Tool will NOT follow any roads, it draws point to point only. Wazupwidat? Very up to date Mac software and hardware, new mapset, new gps and only one problem - I can't map a route! Ideas??? Thanks, Mr.Unique

Using a new pre-loaded USTOPO 100k map set,

BINGO ... US TOPO 100K is not a routable mapset.

You need US TOPO 24K or CityNavigator for autorouting.
