Geocaching Improvements

I see lots of discussion about routes but how about some improvements for those of us who do geocaching.

My biggest complaint is that I geocache all over the country (well, mostly the West so far) and load Pocket Queries from Geocaching.com weekly to get updates.

When importing a gpx file, BaseCamp (3.0.1) imports all of the geocaches as if they are new. It does not update the existing ones. Thus, I end up with sometime 495 duplicates for one area alone when viewing the name, although the GC identity is modified by suffixing a 1 or 2, etc.

If I delete the original one, I retain the correct GC code. If I delete the added one, I lose the new logs, etc.

Can we please get some logic added to update the existing caches without creating new ones?

Thanks for you consideration.
  • Thanks for the feedback. We will be addressing duplication of data in general in a future release. We will make sure that the unique issues surrounding updating geocaches is taken into account. To make sure we are addressing the issue you are speaking of, would you us an example of the gpx files that are causing the duplication to [email protected].

    Hello,

I have also a wish list with possible enhancements, but the most important for me is showing geocaching listings without HTML tags between. You are not really able to read cache listing with all the tags between. Do you know if a bug fix is foreseen?

    Thanks,

    Oliver
