Route does not transfer (in same form) to Oregon 300

When I create a gorgeous route in Basecamp and transfer it to the Oregon 300, all that shows up on the Oregon are straight lines between waypoints versus the nicely created routing on Basecamp that follows trails and roads.

How can I get what I see on Basecamp onto the Oregon?

When you transfer a route to your organ basically you are transferring the waypoints used to create the route. The Oregon must recalculate the route using installed maps. Are the same maps installed on the Oregon that you use to create the maps. For example Topo 2008 and Topo 100k will only draw straight line routes on the GPS or in BaseCamp. The 24K maps will draw routes that follow roads and even trails.

If you are using routable maps on your garmin, make sure your route setting is auto and not direct.
