BaseCamp Beta 2.1.1 Upload route to Zumo 660

Hi all. Loving the new BC beta, I'll never use RoadTrip again once I figure out how to get a route(s) to my Zumo 660.

Mac - 10.5.8
Zumo - 3.50

Here is what I have tried with no avail.

1. Adding a route by dragging and dropping it on my Zumo in "My Garmin Devices" does not load the route onto the GPS.

2. Selecting my route folder with 3 different routes and using the "Send to GPS" button did NOT send the routes to the 660.

3. Right click on folder with routes "Send to GPS" also did NOT transfer the routes to the 660.

4. Went back to RoadTrip and the routes transferred just fine.

After each attempt I rebooted he 660 and checked for the routes.

Is there a simple setting that is off because this is very strange?

edit: I should also point out that BaseCamp "thinks" it's sending the routes as I received the confirmation each time but the routes never ended up on the zumo, they even showed in the window which showed the contents of the zumo but after restarting BaseCamp they were not there.

Thanks in advance

Tried again just now. BaseCamp will not send to the Garmin folder but will send to SD card. That's not good, not sure what's wrong.
  • I don't know about the Zumo but the nuvi routes don't show up until you go to mydata and import the route from the downloaded file. After importing, the route is available from where to-routes.

Thanks for that I will give it a try. That is when transferring to the Unit itself and not the SD card correct?

EDIT: WOW, I found a bunch of routes in the "My Data". Now I have delete all the extra's LOL.
  • Good luck on deleting the routes in MyData. The Nuvi will not allow you to delete the files in MyData. You can delete the uploaded routes using manage routes button. My Nuvi mounts on the desktop and if can see the route.gpx files in the GPX folder If I trash the two to 4 times and empty the trash each I can get them to leave the mydata folder for good. I am not sure if it is connected with the routes being uploaded and not deleted but something seems to but putting the routes back in my data after I restart my nuvi.

Ya what a pain the rear. I tried to get rid of them but they wouldn't go away. I was hoping that after importing they would disappear and then I could delete the active ones like Denny states but after importing they still stick around. I will try your multi-trash method and see what happens.
  • Don't forget to empty the trash. I think the mac puts the file in an invisible trash folder but the gps reads the file and displays it in MyData. A master reset will not remove the files. They seem to be stored in current folder in addition to the gpx folder. I have been able to delete them but I never know exactly what caused the to finally go away. Garmin support told me they would evenly be over written but you can't prove it by me. Let me know if you figure out how to delete the files. I am just guessing but I think the files we upload are gpx files in the gpx folders. When we upload the files to routes the become part of a binary file. It is almost like if you don't delete the routes using the garmin buttons and delete the files from the gpx folder using the mac, the garmin puts them back.

    I have the same problem:
    Basecamp 2.1.1
    Zumo firmware 3.50
    OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2

I cannot upload any routes. All waypoints transfer OK, but no routes.
I tried using the Send to GPS, dragging and dropping on the GPS unit and the SD card: nope.

If I drag and drop the route to the SD card, I get a message when the Zumo starts-up: Found new data, import?
Click Yes and the answer is: cannot find data.
If I click No, it cannot find the data later in the My Data folder. I can see the data on the SD card, but the unit just does not want to.

Any idea how I can transfer my routes?

Give the above a try, it worked for me for the most part.

No, it does not work for me. If I go to My Folder it does not show any routes.
