Using BaseCamp 2.1.1 and US 24K Topo National Parks East. Instead of drawings tracks, I can use the routing tool and BaseCamp will follow any trail or road on the maps. This is much easier than using the track tool to trace over the route. Most of the time when I show elevation profile it works great but on a few occasions the elevation profile will not appear. No error, just no elevation profile.
The route is less than 10 miles and the length of the route is not causing the problem. I can get much longer elevation profiles. I can even get elevation profiles for the route in question if I break the route into two sections such and the route does not include a change of road types. If I draw a very short route over a change in road from 2 continuous gray lines to a road drawn with two dashed lines, the elevation profile will not draw.
BaseCamp & the routing tool is Great for geocaching. I bought a Dakota 20 and have an Oregon 300 on order because of BaseCamp. I wanted to be able to delete previously entered objects from the GPS which the dakota supports.
