As a user of a GPSmap 60 series device I have to keep the names of waypoints/tracks/routes short so they transfer to the device intact without being truncated. The limit on my device is 14 characters. It would be nice if I could set a preference to the 14 character limit in both BaseCamp, and RoadTrip, so I don't have to count characters all the time when I create a name. It would just stop entering characters after the limit I've set.
Also, in BaseCamp, and RoadTrip, we can get around this short name limitation by putting more descriptive names in the comment field for each individual waypoint and have this display on the map instead of the short name. It would be nice to have a preference setting to have the comment field info displayed on the map as the default rather than having to set this each time we create a waypoint. It would help with imported waypoints as well so we don't have to go into each waypoint's 'inspector panel' to set it to display the comment field.
