This is failing for the same reason that RoadTrip is crashing for you, a bad map. See other thread for possible solution.

I hate to add a "me, too", but here's the error I get upon launching Basecamp. Problem persists after completely removing the Garmin folder from Application support, even. Same root cause, or something else?

Hboone,

The error log that you attached appears to be from RoadTrip, not BaseCamp. In any case, the error information you provided is pointing to a different issue. Does this crash happen on startup every time?

It appears that the application is failing to create the folder where it will store your data. The first thing to do is check ~/Library/Application Support/ for a "Garmin" folder. If it exists you should make sure you have read/write permissions to that folder.

If that all looks OK then see if you have a BaseCamp folder inside of the Garmin folder. Once again, make sure you have read/write access to that folder.

If that all appears OK then I would recommend starting up BaseCamp with the Console open. See if any console messages appear regarding BaseCamp, and if so, can you copy that information and provide it here for me?
