Basecamp on Mac connection to Edge 540 very slow!

I am trying to use Basecamp on Mac. Connecting to a new Edge 540. It is extremely slow to download the maps on my device and in fact it is so slow that it is unusable. I have tried everything that is recommended and available as solutions oBasecamp n the net even tried ChatGPT! I have Sonoma 14.5 as software. I am connecting with the cable provided by Garmin USB C to my Mac, Have already tried different ports. Reloaded Express, Basecamp a few times, reset my Edge 540 to factory settings. I am about to give up! Any ideas?

First it's not downloading the maps from your device, it is simply indexing them on first use. Once that process is complete it will then connect almost instantaneously in future. You just need to let it complete the process, which depending on the map or maps can take a while.

Thank you. I have let it run for a whole day and it is still now unusable, i can see the map but when I click on it, I get the rolling ball and it rolls for ever, so can't use the software

Shouldn't take anything like a day, mine always complete in less than an hour. What map is it?

If the Garmin one then try asking Product Support for help, it certainly shouldnt be taking that long.
