Maps without DEM

Hi,

if you use your own maps you can add empty DEM files.

While BaseCamp only supports detailed maps with DEM data, there is a built in base map that will allow you to use the tool without DEM maps.

Are you sure about the basemap with DEM data? I just installed 2.01 and I get the:

"No compatible maps were found. Please install maps with elevation data before running this software."

That is strange... I just installed a fresh copy of BaseCamp, and I didn't have any maps installed. I was able to run it normally. Do you have any other maps currently installed?

that's strange . . .
The "US Basemap v2" is included into the "Garmin BaseCamp.app"
You can find it by right-click on the App and "show content".

To be clear, the included basemap does not have DEM data, but we special case it to let users use the application even if they don't have detailed maps with DEM data. The user experience with a DEM detailed map like Topo USA 24K will be significantly better.

Is there any chance that BaseCamp will ever be compatible with existing street map products that do not have DEM.

I've attached an image of my Maps directory. You can see that "US Basemap v2.gmap" does exist, yet BaseCamp complains. I'm at a loss, I'd like to see the app work. :(

compared to your maps folder I have no "US Basemap v2.gmap" in my maps folders.
Maybe that's the problem. It could be that therefore your BaseCamp and your RoadTrip do not load the internal "US Basemap v2.gmap" - which is from 2009.

Move the "US Basemap v2.gmap" out of the standard maps folder and try again.
