M1 Trip Planner is not calculating routes(straight lines between start and end point)

Hello everyone, I got hand on an GPSmap 60CSx and tried to get it running on my Mac m1, everything seems fine so far. but I can't create any trips on basecamp. I tried switching between different activities and used two different NZ maps(one is also paid...), but basecamp does not want to create a trip for me. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I am using the latest version 4.8.13.

    Not sure which map that is but is it routeable? If not BaseCamp can't create a route.

    BaseCamp will do this if the "Activity" (in the tool bar at the top of the window) is set to "Direct" when the route is created.  Changing the Activity after the route has been created doesn't automatically create a new route.   I suggest you change the Activity to Driving, then go to Preferences > Routing > Driving to set up your routing preferences, then delete your old route and try again.

    Well as he hasn't answered whether the map is or is not routeable that may or may not help. Assuming it is routeable and he's made the sort of error you describe there is no need to create a new route.  If it's using the direct activity, just open route properties, change the activity and select recalculate.

    sorry about the late reply! Been testing some stuff. So the map I used was from here: http://www.topo4gps.co.nz/. It says you can plan your trips with this map, so I figured it should work. Although I tried another map from openstreetmaps now, and there I could do a first simple navigation. This map doesn't have any hiking paths included though, so it doesn't really suit my needs. Also the map took like 2 hours to install. whereas the map from http://www.topo4gps.co.nz/ took like 1 minute Is this already a hint for maps that are not routable by chance?

    Well you'll know it's routeable if in the route properties you have selected it shows something other than direct activity and you've done a recalculate and it's still a straight line.  They have a contact page so if it's still not routing send them a message. Note you can plan routes on non routeable maps using the direct activity, I do that all the time as even routeable maps don't always have the route I want to take available.

    Bear in mind if you use direct activity Garmin handheld units are generally limited to 250 points when using direct activity, I find that more than sufficient for routes that I walk which tend to be no longer than 20 miles. If you send a route with more than 250 points it'll be truncated at the 250 point, happened to me once but thankfully had a backup route on my phone so that allowed me to continue as planned.
