How can I delete a route?

I've deleted some way points within the route, but the route doesn't change. The help files only show how to delete a trip, not routes?

Need a more detailed explanation of what you're trying to do. Is this in BaseCamp or on a device? Which map are you using? Which routing activity are you using? You talk about deleting waypoints but the route doesn't change then mention instructions for deleting a trip but not for routes, your post is very confusing.
