finding my collection and new version questions

on my old mac i used basecamp v3.1.1 which will not open in my new mac, so I downloaded the new version v4.8.12. it works fine and has all my old points, routes etc. I cannot find the file where my collection is saved, even after searching for alldata.gdb it is possible i saved to a custom location 12 years ago..... Any other ideas how to find this file? Is it hidden in the new basecamp? Can I delete the old program without risking losing any of my old data? I did make a backup file of the data on the new basecamp. Im a bit lost since I haven't used this software for over 5 years, between my old gps breaking and not having updated basecamp..

You don't say what OS you are running, but in High Sierra, Alldata.gdb can be found in your user name/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Basecamp/Database/4.8

Thanks. I am running Monterey. I did fid the AllData.gdb file as you have listed, i had to select to show library in the finder preferences.

Can I delete the old unsupported version of basecamp and everything still be in the new working version? I am thinking I can since the file ~/4.8 was created in 2010 (when I first used basecamp) and last accessed today according to my finder window.

I am confused as to what choose library / new library does (in basecamp program/preferences/ library) Is this where the ~/4.8 folder is currently stored? Default location is shown.

Over the years, every time I updated versions of BC I deleted the old (after testing to be sure my data was working in the new) and never lost anything.

...and I've always left the most recently working old folder in place. It has saved me more than once when a new install went south.
