Will installing a new map affect my collection?

Thank you, I had a Garmin and a Costa Rica map but they were lost. I ordered a new Garmin and  a new 2022 map for CR.

My waypoints will still be valid and usable with my BaseCamp? Is there anything I have to do to sync the new equipment?

Waypoints in BaseCamp aren't affected by a map install. You will need to use BaseCamp to send the data you want to your new device.
