I'm fine with Basecamp and on road routing.
Trying to use Basecamp to plan routes from Waypoints for sending to my GPSMap 62S results in this. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Do you have the navigation type set to Driving? The upper set of waypoints are off-road so perhaps Basecamp is taking you back to the last on-road waypoint after each off-road waypoint. Try setting the navigation type to Off-roading or Direct.
Looks like you are using the Garmin OS map. That map isn't routeable so you can only create routes using the direct activity. What you're seeing is BaseCamp using the underlying road map that is included as part of the OS map aimed at allowing you to navigate 'on road'
Thank you both. There we have it methinks Sussex Ambulance (?). I am indeed using the OS map. What a nonsense that makes it. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘direct’. I’ve tried creating a route from waypoints on the device and the same thing happens. It seems like investing in the Lake District OS map (I’m a local) was a complete waste of money.

I've purchased a GBOpen map and installed into both Basecamp and my device. Now Happy and will probably sell Lake District map.

There are many free OSM maps that are routeable. Garmin do explain that the OS map isn't routeable. Even on maps that are I use direct activity and create point to point routes as using the maps own routing never takes me the way I want to go.
By direct I mean choosing direct activity in BaseCamp rather than hiking, walking etc. On your device you set it to off road. If you do that your routes will work perfectly.
I've got it. Much appreciated.
