POI Loader bugs

Software: POI Loader 2.4.2 Mac

OS:  macOS 11.4

Device: DriveSmart 65

Bug no. 1: When loading POIs on my DriveSmart 65, the last screen shows:"IDS_POI_14". Earlier versions (e.g. 2.3.0) showed "### POIs successfully installed".

Bug no. 2: When installing POIs in manual mode and selecting a folder that contains more than one POI file, the "Please choose the settings for the file…" dialog does not show the correct file name but "%1$@", i.e. total gibberish, making it impossible to identify which file is being processed. Did not test this with a single file.

Is there ANY testing being performed prior to releasing software?

  • Latest version was released last September. Yours is I think the only post to raise an issue. Maybe look closer to home. First I'd try is uninstall it and then reinstall directly from Garmin

  • This is using POI Loader for the first time directly after downloading it from the Garmin website and installing onto a newly purchased MacBook Air M1.

How much closer to pristine can it be? OS language is Spanish, tried POI Loader in Spanish and English, bug shown here in English since that is the forum language.

Can now confirm that the "IDS_POI_14" and the gibberish "%1$@" also appear as shown above when installing a single POI file. I understand these to be variable names instead of their values. In all instances I also installed custom icons with the POI files, and in some cases WAV audio files.

Previous system was OS X 10.11.6 and POI loader 2.3.0, so quite outdated – these bugs were not present in 2.3.0 on that system but were in 2.4.1. Cannot upload screenshots since 2.3.0 doesn't see the DriveSmart, and my old nüvi 2689 is dead.

Didn't bother to file a bug report then but simply reverted to 2.3.0. Which is not an option now since 2.3.0 won't run on Big Sur.
