I'm using BaseCamp 4.8.11 and it will not see my Fenix 5x as a watch but as removable media, such as an SD card. This started suddenly about 5 weeks back. BaseCamp tells me the software on the watch needs updating but the software is the latest 22.20. I have made sure Garmin Express is not running in the background. I have had a support ticket with Garmin for the past 3 weeks and they have come up with nothing. I can transfer GPX files by dragging them to the BaseCamp window. But a whole lot of functionality has disappeared.
I am using Big Sur 11.4, but have tried with older Mac OS systems and even on a PC using Windows 10, with no maps installed at all. Same results the fenix 5x shows as removable media. I have reinstalled the software (twice). Tried even changing the settings for USB connection in the watch. Nothing works. Any suggestions?
