Trip Planning with Basecamp and Drive 51

I'm planning a trip to a southwestern U.S. state in 2022 and I would like to do my planning with Basecamp and a soon-to-be-purchased Garmin Drive 51. Is this a reasonable course to take? I am familiar with Basecamp but I have mainly used it for hike planning with a 64ST.

I expect to mainly be creating Routes on Basecamp and sending them to the 51.

    Yep, I do it all the time. Just note on the road devices handle data differently to a handheld, you cannot manipulate data directly on the device itself, so BaseCamp can send data to the device but once its there you can only delete, edit it etc using the menus on the device. I find if I want to edit routes on the device the simplest thing to do is delete it on the device and send a new one from BaseCamp.
