Where Install GPS Files on GPSMap 62stc?

I've downloaded a bunch of OFM maps for Basecamp on Mac. I have downloaded some GPS files for my Garmin GPSMap 62stc as well.

There are two volumes on the unit, the startup internal volume, and a microSD card. Where should I install the GPS files for the unit? More volume on the microSD card.

Also, with regards to this unit, I'll have to rename the file (i.e. gmapsupp FRA ESP PRT.img) as I have multiple files. Is this the way to do this? Need some clarity.

Anybody with insight, I'd love to hear your experience.

You can install maps and gpx files on either your device or card. BaseCamp should give you the option of where to install them, just select the location you want. You can rename any files in the normal…

You can install maps and gpx files on either your device or card. BaseCamp should give you the option of where to install them, just select the location you want. You can rename any files in the normal way you'd rename any files on a mac.

If you install .gpx files directly then they either go into the GPX folder on your device or card. If there isn't one on the card create one in the Garmin folder on the card.

I think the OP is talking about map files as they mentioned IMG files. I installed all my maps in the GARMIN folder of the micro SD card on my gpsmap 64sx and they work great there,

Ya I downloaded a bunch of OFM files, for both Basecamp and my 62stc. The question was about the location of the files as I had two volumes on the unit:

Unit on-board memory

32 GB MicroSD card I installed

The latter was recommended somewhere because it won't mess up the OS and startup of the unit if things go wrong. Second, the on-board memory is highly limited and I downloaded gigabytes worth of map files.

Like you've been advised I also install maps to my card. They simply go in the Garmin folder. Hopefully you now have the answers you wanted?
