Basecamp can't find 60CSx

Hello

I Have a new MacBook Air (only USB C) and Basecamp installed. I just noticed that Basecamp or any other Garmin Software can't find the GPSMAP 60CSx via USB. If I start the Masstorage Mode nothing happens. Even the DiskUtility can't find another device.

Since the device can't read waypoints from the SD card I don't know how to get my routs and waypoints on it.

That's because it's a serial device, you need to use MapSource

That is not completely true. Because one year ago it works perfectly fine with an older MacBook Pro and Basecamp. It worked also with the Safari Plugin so I used it to send Geocahes directly from the browser to the device. Now nothing works.

Really? My mistake then as I was sure that was a serial device. I wonder if it's the USB C that is the issue, as the 60 Csx is now a very old device?

Also doing some checking it seems the 60 Csx has a serial and a usb setting, is yours inadvertently on the serial one?

With Basecamp on my Mac Catalina I have to plug the 60csx in BEFORE I start Basecamp. If I have Basecamp running it will not find the 60csx. With my 64 I can plug it in after Basecamp is started.

Bei aktuellen Mac-Modellen gibt es leider keine Anschlussmöglichkeit mehr.

Dies würde bei diesen alten Geräten u.U. nur noch auf einem Windows-System mit entsprechenden Treibern (https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591) gehen. Auf einem Mac jedoch nicht mehr.

Basically they say that the old devices are not working with newer Mac's anymore the only way would be Windows with the Garmin drivers.

Sadly to plug it before starting Bsacamp didn't help.

It looks like it is an hardware matter with new Mac's. I used windows via paralles and install the driver but still no connection. The Mac just doesn't see any device.

Are you using the M1 MacBook Air?

Also, have you given Garmin Basecamp "Full Disk Access" in the Mac preferences under "Security&Privacy"/Privacy/Full Disk Access. If not then Basecamp probably can't find the 60csx.

Both Mass Storage and Device show up in Basecamp for me depending on the settings I use on the 60csx

BTW, I was going to attach some screen clips but I can only use a URL to a file now. This used to be possible to upload an image. Has this function been removed?

You can still add an image to a post but the "Upload" button has changed appearance. Choose Insert > Image/video/file > Click the word Upload.

We are working to change how that Upload button looks to make it more obvious.
