Converting track to route makes a mess

Hi,

Basecamp macos 4.8.11

I have some manually created hiking tracks that I'm trying to convert to routes. When I right-click on the track and select "Create Route From Track," I get a spaghetti mess with BaseCamp jumping me back and forth to adjacent ridges and mountains. I've read on these forums something about setting the conversion to "Direct" but I can't find any relevant and useful settings in BaseCamp. At the top of BaseCamp I have the Activity set to hiking.

The task for Basecamp is simple; convert my track points to route points!! Any ideas?

Never mind. When I set the "Activity" dropdown, at the top of Basecamp, to "Direct" then did the conversion, it worked fine.

Great, I'll close this thread. The reason for that behaviour when a routing activity is selected is because the map selected doesn't have routes that join the points, so the route jumps to points and parts of the map that are routeable.
