Hi Im a newbie I have a macbook gold (Catalina) and have installed V4.8.11 and use Topo Australia&New Zealand V5 When I zoom out a larger part of the global map disappears including Aus and NZ. Can I reinstall 4.8.10?

 too

  • You could certainly try, or uninstall and reinstall the current version. As I don't have a mac I can't say whether this is typical of 4.8.11 or not

Same problem to me... have you solved it? I also tried to uninstall and reinstall it, nothing, it does not work. :-(

  • In that case contact Product Support and log the issue with them.

  • Same problem.. Catalina 10.15.7 - I thought: It is not a problem NOT to see the global map. For me it is enough to see those of interest. So I did some test...

in addition: I tried to load new maps. Regular process with Garmin MapManeger. At the end of the operation I find the maps in the MapManager dialog. I launch BaseCamp, but the maps do not appear among those available in the "maps" menu (I only find the Global Map with the partial like in the screenshot). Retried same procedure with BaseCamp 4.8.10. I see the entire Global Map, but I don't see the new maps installed. I think it may be a MapManager problem. Always with MapManeger I delete the loaded maps and the same MapManager crash ... I do not know what to think...

The problem is that also the Topo and the Freizeitkarte don’t show the same part of the map that is not showed on the global map. I think all the maps are based on the global map, if the global map doesn’t work properly, also the other maps don’t work either.

So do you think the problem is with the Catalina or Basecamp upgrade?

Basecamp because I have Big Sur and not Catalina...

  • Right. I don't know what is your hardware. I did some tests on macbook pro M1 (big sur) and the result is the same. I hope it will be useful.

I have the Macbook Pro 2020, the latest one before the M1 was launched.

As previously said the probblem started with 4.8.11 (incomplete global map)
Have just tracked down a copy of 4.8.10 and installed it, but it now has the same
problem. Have contacted Garmin Product Support and await their answer.

As a follow up to the above: Global Map has started operating as it should in ver 4.8.10 (don't know what's going on)

    an  hour later:

I copied the 'Global Application Basemap v2.gmap' in 4810
with the intention of reinstalling 4811 and replacing that file.
Now here's the strange thing.... the global map was complete in 4811 without
having to replace the map file.

    some time later

It did not last for long... while playing around with the zoom and detail controls

the map went back into fault mode. Replacing the map with the one from 4810 did not fix the problem. Have now gone back

to 4810 and everything is as it should be.
