Basecamp worked fine before I switched to the Big Sur Beta.
Now it runs extremely slow and I get the beach ball every time I click anything.

I have found a solution for me, MacBook Pro Late 2013: Select Menu "View" > "Show 3D Maps only" (translated from the German version, maybe the English version says something different). Then BaseCamp runs…
Exactly. Well said. The fact that Garmin is dead silent on this means they were probably thinking it would just work without having to touch a thing.. Not a good sign.
See "3D solution" below. HOWEVER, please Garmin, do not consider this a valid long time workaround. 3D works but I hate it. Poor graphics and it is a nuisance to compare what I see in BC and what I see…
I have tested the workaround of switching to "Show 3D Maps only" and that works on my system. I prefer 2D mode, but this workaround is helpful until Garmin developers can update Basecamp.
Why would they? Customer experience, maybe? Seriously, that is exactly what betas are for. So that users and developers can get an understanding of what to come and to be prepared, and so that feedback is provided to make last minute fixes. It is way better to be proactive than reactive. Now, with the public release, the bug is still there, affecting 100% of all upgraded Macs, and not only the beta users.
Thank you! Not only is it working again but it feels MUCH faster than it's ever felt before. I prefer the look of 2D mode but it was always very slow, even on Catalina, but now it flies in 3D mode.
Right, it's fast as never. May i don't want patch from Garmin - they can upset that :D
ralle2d: Super find!
3D maps view is a lot blurrier, but I will take it in order to get my work done. Now, if Garmin could get their act together. (Altho I suppose that as long as there is this work-around, they'll figure that this is one less thing they need to do for the Mac community.) 3D also appears as an oblique "fly-over" view rather than straight down, which bothers my OCD tendencies in terms of measuring exact distances, etc
See "3D solution" below. HOWEVER, please Garmin, do not consider this a valid long time workaround. 3D works but I hate it. Poor graphics and it is a nuisance to compare what I see in BC and what I see in ALL other map programs, as well as paper maps (yes, they still exist).
Works for me. MacBook Pro 2016. Tnx!
