Massive Challenges with Basecamp on MacOS

Have you downloaded the maps to your Mac using Express or are you trying to use the maps on your Zumo?  I suspect the latter as that's why you're seeing a disconnect at the border, if you confirm what you're doing I'll explain why.

BaseCamp isn't 'reloading' the maps from your Zumo as it doesn't 'load' them.  It indexes maps on devices first use so it can use them.  If it appears to be continually doing this it'll be because you didn't let the indexing finish.  

BaseCamp will list maps that are available for it to use, so whatever it's listing is either on your device or installed on your mac, but without knowing what these are I can't explain what you're seeing, a screen shot would help.

It might be an idea to check out Joseph Byrne's you tube video's - they are most informative and by searching you could probably cover most of the issues you are having. hope that helps..Tony

thanks for your help! I think I did install the maps on Basecamp as well as on the mac (back then). Unfortunately I cannot update the maps, as the update function via Express (as well as the Xumo only update via WiFi) do stop with an error message.

Based on what you wrote I will try some topics:

Let Basecamp index the maps to the end

Keep trying to update the maps via Garmin Express.

Updating still doesn't work. I opened a ticket - very disappointing result. The eMail I received back from Garmin support gives a standard knowledge base answer on "if you can't connect to express". The support clearly did NOT read my message. I very clearly expressed that I get an error from Express when updating (after I connected the Xumo). It rather looks to me like this is still a challenge from the hack which Garmin does not want to make public. Which is ridiculous not be openly state this. 
Will keep on trying to update.
