Every time I try to click on a route or track in basecamp I accidentally drag it a little bit and sometimes that causes the route to totally recalculate. Is there a way to "lock" routes or tracks so that you can't accidentally drag them?

No, why are you clicking on it though? If you don't want to move anything there's no need to do so.
Go to Preferences -> Controls and click the "Use Option while dragging to move data" check box. The route or track then won't move unless you hold the Option key.
Jeez. A user might want to Get Info on the route or track. Lots of good stuff there. Do you REALLY not look back at tracks you've created previously to seek information on... time taken from point A to point B, elevation gain, time spent stopped at various points, etc??
Stephen16w actually took the time to give the most helpful answer, not just fill cyberspace.
For the many things you hate about Basecamp please share with everyone what you do like that keeps you using it and coming back time and again to moan in these forums.
