Is it possible to install TOPO US 24k maps from a DVD into Basecamp?

Hello, my apologies if this has been answered recently. I have searched, but all of the relevant posts are several years old, and the software has changed a lot since then.

I recently upgraded my 2014 MBP to a 2020 MBP, running Catalina, and Basecamp 4.8.8. On my old laptop I had installed the files from my TOPO US 24k DVD into Basecamp using the installer on the DVD. However, when I migrated my files from the old laptop to the new, the installed maps no longer appear in Basecamp, even though they exist on the hard drive. I still have the DVD's and I would like to install them into Basecamp on the new laptop. I have tried the installer that is on the DVD, and MapManager, but both fail. Is there anything I can do to re-install the maps into Basecamp?

Try this. I have the Topo US 24k DVD maps installed. The already installed files transferred over should have an extension of GMAP. Double click the file and Mapmanager should show up with a box where…

Simply copying the map files across won't work. If you were on a windows machine or an earlier mac version you could use JaVaWa GMTK program but that doesn't work in Catalina I believe. I don't know of any other way, sorry.

Try this. I have the Topo US 24k DVD maps installed. The already installed files transferred over should have an extension of GMAP. Double click the file and Mapmanager should show up with a box where you hit INSTALL. The name of the map is not shown in the dialog but if you hit install it should work.

They have to be the OLD DVD maps though. Probably doesn't work with the new download maps from reading here.

Thanks so much! I also found that if you load the DVD, and then show invisible files, the GMAP file is at the root level of the DVD. I haven't tried copying it over yet, but I think that might work. For general reference, on my MBP the files should be copied to /Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I think that's what I have done in the past (used JaVaWa). It's kind of frustrating to not be able to use these expensive maps!
