Basecamp Mac Aborts Reading Worldwide DEM Basemap,NR

Upon starting Basecamp, program crashes.

Running Basecap 4.8.8 on MacBook Pro, 16GB memory and 1TB storage, running MacOS Mojave v10.4.6. GPS is a Garmin GPSMAP 64s with a 32GB card.

Error dump shares the following:

Application Specific Information:

Current Map: Worldwide Autoroute DEM Basemap,NR

terminating with uncaught exception of type xercesc_3_1::OutOfMemoryException

Disabled Worldwide DEM Basemap, NR and tried to access Basecamp. Same result. Notice map name on GPS does not include "Worldwide." Is this an issue. Is the Garmin Basemap corrupt? If so, how do you reload just that Basemap? I have other maps and GPX files loaded on both device and memory card.

Thanks, Rick

  • Try uninstalling then reinstalling BaseCamp, switching off your Mac inbetween.

If the problem still occurs is it happening when your device is connected or not?

  • Actually have Mac and Windows 10 -installed Basecamp in Bootcamp, and nativ - same issue with that GPSMAP 64s - crashes Basecamp. Similar but not same sequence of loading maps - program sequence a tad different. Boot Basecamp Windows, load app, accessing maps, blows up. Makes me think a corrupted file...

  • Sussamb, yes, I have un-installled and reinstalled Basecamp without any change in behavior. I also have an HP Laptop with Windows 10 and Basecamp crashes on that also. I will remove the memory card and try Basecamp to ensure the 32GB card is not causing the error. More late today...

  • Had a minute to remove memory card, reinstall Basecamp on MacBook, and try again. Same behavior - without the card installed.

Any ideas? Is the Basemap corrupted? Thanks, Rick

  • I just tried this with my Garmin 64s and iMac running Basecamp 4.8.8 and MacOS 10.14.6.  Same as yours.  The preinstalled Basemaps loaded and worked fine in Basecamp when the 64s was attached.  Must be a corrupted map file.
