Mac Basecamp does not import my Topo on Oregon650

Which topo map? A Garmin one or somebody else's? 

I've been using Garmin products for around 10 years and rarely had an issue, so my experience is different to yours 

Topo Germany V7 Pro from Garmin

It is loading for a quarter of the full length, then only the card is displayed, without map (on SD card is summer and winter).

The map is not listed in any menu. On the Oregon I can use both maps. So the probability is high that this has to do with basecamp.

Perhaps the card is somewhere defect and the Oregon 650 is tolerating this, Basecamp not. Can not use the Topo for planning without loading into Basecamp. For the moment I will use QuoVadis QV7 and QVX with other maps for routing. But it is hard to realize that Garmin is unable to produce stable Software for their handhelds...Never tried out the lifestyle products and I surely will never buy one from Garmin.

As I mentioned: I used Garmin product when they appear on market since last century. I have 2 Vista HcX and they only had mechanical problems because of heat. But the Oregon and the Garmin-Asus A50 are a catastrophe. Basecamp is a catastrophe. The handling of the maps are a catastrophe. Since 5 years I hope that they will change but it's getting worse. Hope for an alternative on market.

Just for anyone else reading this let me first correct something, BaseCamp  doesn't load or install maps from a device, it indexes maps on first use so that BaseCamp can use them.

The question therefore is why you can't see the Topo German one?  It can take BaseCamp a while to index a map so the first question is did you leave it connected long enough for BaseCamp to complete the indexing?

As for your comments about BaseCamp, maps etc, as already stated I've never had any issues so maybe it's your Mac or something else?

A quick MBP, 2,4 GHz Intel Core i7, 20 minutes for "indexing" should be enough.

Simply stops after 1/4 of the full loading bar. I already had hopes because Basecamp did't crash. before Basecamp was simply unusable in 64bit version.

Playing around with the Topo map on the Oregon, I think the SD card ist somehow defect.

The oregon crashes s.t. when I zoom in or out and there are some unrealistic geometric shapes on it.

Without that card the Oregon ist working quick without crashes. So, warranty is out, money lost. That's Garmin. This Copyright paranoia is just fighting against the customers...:-(

So not a BaseCamp but a card issue then. If it were me I'd call Product Support,  they often help with issues like this
