I have been trying to build tracks in Basecamp and then transfer them to my RV760. I can build the tracks, move them to the RV760, getting a "Transfer Complete" message. I can then look at the contents of my RV760 on the computer and the new track appears in the list along with my historical tracks that I actually drove. When I unplug the RV760, the tracks I have actually driven show up on the Map View, but the new track that I built and transferred from Basecamp is nowhere to be found. Any suggestions? I don't need a turn by turn route, just a displayed track that I can follow when riding on my UTV.
I have converted a track to a route but the unit wants to make a go to route and shows me a straight line from a known highway to each point that the track was made of. I have purchased an SD card from FunTreks which has 99 rideable trails. These are listed as Custom POIs. The RV760 will give me a tutn-by-turn route to the start of the trail and then shows a path on the screen that I can follow into "no-man's land" and not get lost. No turn-by-turn directions. I think the routes are made up of waypoints but not sure. Any idea how I might be able to do something similar?
The RV760 manual shows a copyright date of 2013. The Nuvi Essential 55 (and subs) automotive gps devices with original firmware of 2013 would not create an off-road point to point route that stayed off the road after the first point. A later firmware update changed this routing behavior to remain point to point off-road without bouncing back perpendicularly to the nearest road (no matter how many hundreds of miles distant on a global base map).
It is unlikely that a device such as the RV760, designed for large recreational vehicles, also received this off-road firmware upgrade, but it might be worthwhile to check.
Call Garmin perhaps for the firmware? FunTreks somehow built off-road tracks or routes that the 760 will display and I mean OFF-ROAD! Up dry washes and over mine roads up into the mountains. I often find, (using Google Earth), offshoot trails from the FunTreks trails that I would like to explore. It can be easy to get lost because of the spiderweb of UTV trails in some areas. I can use my handheld for the tracks I build, but it is small and hard to see while driving. The 760 is really easy to read, mounted in the UTV with a RAM mount and Garmin off-road case. Just looking for the ideal display.
When I plug my RV760 into my mac and access the contents, it shows that I have some waypoints and a route that I transferred from Basecamp. I cannot, however find them on the 760 when I unplug it from the computer. Any idea where they may be found on the 760 and how to view them?
Sorry if I was not clear. When I have the 760 plugged in and am reading its content on Basecamp, the route and waypoints show up as being on my 760, but I cannot find them on the 760 after I unplug it from Basecamp.
I have been trying to build off road routes which will show up on my 760 but have not been successful. I built a route and got it transferred from Basecamp to the 760 ( a miracle in itself) but can't find it on the 760.
