Round trip Route, only goes to end point?

I created a round trip route using via points in Basecamp and transferred it to my Oregon all good, but then when I select the route and press 'Go' it just take me to the final point! What am I doing wrong here, thanks.
  • Hmmm, I say round trip but I did have the end about 200 metres from the start just to not confuse the gps but it still navigates to the final point as the next point and then calls it a day. What I do not understand is that the Routes are directional so I'm perplexed how this problem occurs. It appears that the Oregon is simply ignoring anything other than what shaping point is the closest.

The device picks up the point on the route/track nearest to the location you are when you start navigation.

This lets you start navigation in the middle of the route/track (a really useful feature!)

This leads to the unexpected issue in loop routes where the nearest point happens to be the end point.

The work around is to make the route/track a bit shorter. So, when you start, there isn't any chance of picking the end point.
  • All perfectly normal, reasonable and consistent with how Garmin handhelds have always worked

It seems that my attempt of clearing up the misunderstanding about User1123's new question in post #8 did not resolve anything. You are still replying to another situation than he asked about.

I will go waste my time elsewhere.

User1123 wasn't clear at all. It doesn't seem to me that he's talking about what you think he is (him not being clear, who knows!).

I do not think I have seen that behaviour. I have of course seen the behaviour you describe, but that is something else.

What you think User1123 is saying doesn't seem likely (his description isn't very clear). It seems much more likely that he is seeing the same behavior you and many other people have seen.
