I just completed a 2100 mile trip on a BMW motorcycle using the new BMW Nav VI. The unit has the active logs which it captured in many time segments over the 11 days. I would like to know how to combine the active log information from all of those segments and create an adventure or a single route. When I select all of the active logs in Basecamp there is no function I can determine that will allow me to combine them in a single step like right clicking a single track and making it into a route. I am relatively new to Basecamp and would appreciate some help.
  • In Windows you can select multiple tracks then right click the selection and join them. There will be something similar in the Mac version, but the method may differ.

    Joining tracks on the Mac

Simply select the tracks, then right click, and select "join tracks"

Tried that and the application either quits or it draws straight lines between certain point for roads that do not exist.
  • If it's drawing straight lines either there are parts not covered by your tracks or you need to reorder the tracks so that they link up correctly.

Tracks and Routes are VERY DIFFERENT things. Routes are dependent on maps incorporating routing technology. Tracks on the other hand are just collections of points. If the map changes the Routes will most likely change. The Tracks will not change even though the map might change.

So, do not expect tracks to follow the roads on a map. A track is just a straight line going directly from one track-point to another. As SUSSAMB pointed out indirectly Tracks have a direction associated with them. If you try to join tracks which are going in different directions you will get a big mess! Check which way the track arrows are pointing and if necessary reverse the track.

If there are large holes or discontinuities in between your various track logs just use the track tool to fill in the gaps so they join up properly.
