Missing map display in BaseCamp

Hi

Sure this has been explained before but I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for. I have a 3rd party map (paid) that displays and works fine on my Montana 680t. However, there is no reference to it in BaseCamp. Not in the drop down maps menu. Have used javawa as well and it does not show up there either. Only maps installed with gmapi seem to be available in javawa. This with BaseCamp on Mac OS X (latest build).

If it's working on the Montana I should be able to see it within BaseCamp, correct?
  • So let me clarify, the map displays on your Montana but doesn't show in BaseCamp when your Montana is connected? Are there other maps on your Montana that display?

If so use JaVaWa's Device manager to set the map to be visible in BaseCamp, since some 3rd party maps aren't set that way http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

If the map you're having issues with doesn't show in Device manager exactly what sort of map is it and where did you get it from?

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, map displays and works fine on the Montana but even when connected to my computer, the map is not available from the drop down or in any other way, accessible in BaseCamp.

I also have CNNA on the Montana and assumed the other map would act the same way: CNNA is only available in BaseCamp when the Montana is connected.

The map is a third party product covering Mexico. Nothing wrong with the map in any other respects.

I have contacted the manufacturer of the map and this may be particular to Mac OS X. I will try with a Windows laptop and see if BaseCamp can display it.

Issue solved, sort of... connected Montana to Windows laptop and voilla, 3rd party map displays in BaseCamp as normal. I guess some maps work with Windows BaseCamp better than Mac OS X BaseCamp..
